Welcome to ASE 2010

ASE 2010 is now over. See you in Lawrence, KS, USA, November 6–10 for ASE 2011!

ASE2011

Grote Markt Antwerpen The IEEE/ACM ASE conference series is one of the world's premier Software Engineering conferences. Each year, it brings together researchers and practitioners from academia and industry to discuss foundations, techniques and tools for automating the analysis, design, implementation, testing, and maintenance of large software systems. ASE 2010 celebrated the 25th anniversary of the series in the city of Antwerp.

ASE 2010 featured a rich selection of high-quality contributions. Out of 190 submissions, 33 contributions were presented as full papers, and 26 as short papers. In the Tool Demonstration track, 18 contributions were selected out of 43 submissions. The Doctoral Symposium proposed 6 contributions from junior researchers. The program also proposed no less than eight associated workshops and five tutorials. The proceedings were published in the ACM International Conference Proceedings Series, exclusively in digital form, and distributed to attendees on memory sticks.

ASE 2010 counted 243 registered participants overall, with 168 attending the main conference. The conference was hosted in Universiteit Antwerpen's brand-new Meerminne facility. The 25th anniversary was honoured with a special keynote address, a re-edition of the seminal KBSA Report and a widely acclaimed special anniversary banquet.

Many thanks to all attendees, but also to the countless organizers, volunteers, providers, sponsors and partners, for their contribution to this very successful conference!

The Organisation Committee.

The organization of ASE 2010 was supported by the MoVES Project, a consortium of Belgian research teams in software engineering funded by the Belgian Federal Science Policy Office.

News in the spotlight

Internet Access 25 august 2010
The ASE conference organization will provide internet access to all conference participants.

At the registration, you will receive a personal login name and password with which you will be able to access the Wireless network of the University of Antwerp.

More information can be found here.
Poster Format and Sizes 25 august 2010
On Wednesday 22 September and Thursday 23 September in the afternoon the program features two poster sessions, two tool presentation sessions and two tool demonstration sessions. What is this about ?

The poster session allows authors of short papers to discuss their paper with peers in an informal setting, somewhat like an exhibit hall.

The tool presentation session allows authors of tool demonstration papers to give a 12-minute formal presentation of their tool.

The tool demonstration session allows authors of tool demonstration papers to give an in-depth demonstration of their tool, ideally by allowing attendees to interact with the tool in an unscripted way.

Therefore, authors of a poster should prepare an inviting display that captures the topic and ideas in easily understood printed text and graphics. Similarly, authors of a tool demo are encouraged to prepare a poster to show the main features they wish to discuss during the tool demonstration session.

The poster themselves will be hang on a poster easel. The maximum size of the working space is (b x h) 118,5 x 146 cm and the poster easels will look as shown here:

Presenters of the posters and tool demos will have time to set-up the poster during wednesday or thursday's lunch break. The posters themselves must be attached with needles (tape is strictly forbidden) — the conference organization will supply those. The posters must be removed immediately after the session finishes so that we can prepare them for the next session.

The posters themselves will be set-up in the main hall of the conference venue, shown here:

Tutorial Schedule Changed 15 July 2010
The schedule for the ASE 2010 tutorials had to be changed to resolve a conflict. Check the updated schedule in the Program section of the ASE 2010 website. Please check with the registration manager, Céline Dizier, if you had already registered to workshops and you are impacted by this change. The ASE 2010 Organizers sincerely apologize for any inconvenience.
