Call for Workshops (Closed)

The 19th IEEE International Conference on Automated Software Engineering (ASE 2004) invites submissions of workshop proposals. The workshops co-located with the conference should provide an opportunity for exchanging views, advancing ideas, and discussing preliminary results on topics related to software engineering research and applications. Workshops should not be seen as an alternative forum for presenting full research papers. The workshops co-located with the conference will be held either before or after the conference on 20th, 21st or 25th of September 2004. A workshop may last one or two days.

Workshop proposals should be written in English, not exceed 3 pages and submitted in PDF format via email to both workshop organisers. They should also:
  • Outline the theme and goals of the workshop including its relevance to the field of Automated Software Engineering
  • Indicate the targeted audience and the desired minimum and maximum number of participants
  • Describe the workshop format (e.g. paper presentations, breakout sessions, panel-like discussions, combination of formats)
  • Describe the participant solicitation and selection process
  • Describe the publicity strategy that will be used by the workshop organisers to promote the workshop
  • Give a brief description of the organiser's background, including relevant past experience on organising workshops and contact information
  • Incorporate an initial version of the call for papers that the workshop organisers intend to use
  • Indicate preferences for workshop dates, duration (1 or 2 days), and any other scheduling constraints
  • Indicate the equipment, room capacity, and any other resource necessary for the organisation of the workshop
Note that the workshop co-chairs will consider the preference of workshop dates specified by the organisers, but the acceptance of a workshop proposal does not guarantee adherence to the requested date/time. The workshop co-chairs will assume that workshop proposers will be able to run a workshop on any of the days that ASE 2004 has reserved for workshops.

Review Process
Workshop proposals will be reviewed by the ASE 2004 workshop co-chairs. Acceptance will be based on an evaluation of the workshop's potential for generating useful results, the timeliness and expected interest in the topic, the organiser's ability to lead a successful workshop, and potential for attracting sufficient number of participants.

Accepted workshops must adhere to the common deadlines listed below for submissions of papers, acceptance of papers, and preparation of proceedings

Publication
Organisers of accepted workshops are responsible for producing a master copy of the workshop proceedings containing the accepted papers, following a template that will be sent to the organisers in due course. ASE 2004 will provide support for producing copies and binding the proceedings for the workshop participants. Workshop proceedings will also be assigned an International Standard Serial Number (ISSN).

Registration and Location
Workshops will be held at the Johannes Kepler University, Linz, Austria. All workshop participants and organisers must register for a workshop. The registration fee will be set by the workshop organisers and the conference committee and has to cover the costs of the workshop venue, proceedings, coffee breaks and lunch per each day of the workshop. Workshop registrations will be managed centrally by the ASE 2004 organising committee.
