Conference attendees should choose the Kansas City International (MCI) Airport as their destination. MCI is located in Kansas City, Missouri. The airport is located 45 minutes northeast of Lawrence and is serviced by these major airlines:

Directions to Lawrence

Directions to Lawrence from the Kansas City Airport:

  1. As you exit the airport, follow the signs to Topeka, which will direct you to:
  2. Turn left onto the 29 N / 435W ramp to St Joseph/Topeka. Continue for 3.5 miles.
  3. Take exit 17 to 435 S toward Topeka for 19 miles.
  4. Take exit 12 to 70W / Kansas Turnpike toward Topeka for 25 miles.
  5. Take exit 202 "West Lawrence" and pay the toll (about $1.50).
  6. After the toll booth, you’ll be driving south on McDonald Drive. Stay in the left lane to merge onto Iowa Street.
  7. Continue south on Iowa Street to W 9th Street. Take a left (head east) on W 9th Street.
  8. After traveling about one mile on W 9th Street, take a right on Indiana Street.
  9. You will find the Oread on the corner of Indiana and W 12th Street. The hotel entrance and parking are on the W 12th Street side.
  10. Overnight parking for hotel guests is $12 per car per night.

Conference Hotel

The Oread 1200 Oread Ave., Lawrence

Perched atop Mount Oread, at the north gate of The University of Kansas, The Oread looks out over the Kaw River Valley and across to the campus Campanile and KU's Memorial Stadium. The conference group rate is $149 (plus tax) per night for a single or double room. The hotel will honor the group rate for up to five days before the conference, so you can come early to enjoy the area. For the nights of November 11 and November 12, 2011, the guest room rate will increase due to a football game on campus.

The reservation cut-off date is Friday, October 7, 2011 at 5 p.m. Central Time. Reservations received after this date will be accepted by the hotel on a space available basis at the conference rates block.

Parking

The Hotel offers valet parking only. Valet parking for overnight guests is $12 per day and offers in and out service as needed. Valet parking for conference attendees not staying at the Hotel is $5 per day and offers in and out service as needed.

Additional Rooms

Additional hotel rooms have been blocked for the conference at the SpringHill Suites, One Riverfront Plaza, Lawrence. The conference group rate is $94 (plus tax) per night for a king or double queen room. For the nights of November 11 and November 12, 2011, the guest room rate will increase due to $124 a football game on campus.
